Sylvia Farrar
Sylvia spent her early career in information technology at IBM, but in 1993 transitioned to tutoring to give her the flexibility she needed for her family. For the past 25 years she has tutored and mentored students in top-tier private and public schools in Austin and Washington DC. She tutors math from middle school through college calculus. She also teaches high school science, as well as Spanish and French. She has a BS in Chemical Engineering from Penn State
Mark Farrar
Mark also started his career at IBM, as a Systems Engineer. He went on to numerous executive roles in information technology companies, including as founder and CEO of Spontaneous Networks. After more than 30 successful years in IT, Mark entered his second career, in education, working alongside Sylvia, tutoring middle and high school math and science. A self-confessed test nerd, five years ago Mark began to concentrate on SAT and ACT test prep. Mark has a BA in Economics with High Distinction from the University of Virginia, and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
